Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has notified the National Means‑cum‑Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) examination 2025‑26 for Class 8 students studying in government, government‑aided and local‑body schools of J&K. [web:2][web:12]
Eligibility
- Student must be a domicile of Jammu & Kashmir and studying in a Government / Government‑aided / Local Body school only. [web:2]
- Minimum 55% marks in Class 7 annual exam (5% relaxation for SC/ST) for appearing in the selection test. [web:2][web:12]
- Annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3.50 lakh. [web:2][web:12]
- Reservation will be applicable as per UT of J&K rules. [web:2]
Scholarship Benefits
- 1068 scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit list prepared after the test. [web:2][web:9]
- Scholarship amount is Rs. 12,000 per year per student from Class 9 to 12 (maximum four years), subject to required percentage and promotion each year. [web:2][web:12]
Exam Pattern
- Paper‑I: Mental Ability Test (MAT) – 90 questions, 90 marks, 90 minutes. [web:2][web:9]
- Paper‑II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – 90 questions, 90 marks, 90 minutes. [web:2][web:9]
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% in each test for General category and 32% for SC/ST. [web:2][web:9]
How to Apply (Offline)
- Download the application form and detailed notification from the official JKBOSE website: www.jkbose.nic.in. [web:2][web:3]
- Fill the form carefully and attach Class 7 marks card, income certificate, category certificate and other required documents. [web:2]
- Get the form attested by the Head of Institution and submit it to the concerned Chief Education Officer (District Nodal Officer, NMMS) on or before the last date mentioned in the notification. [web:2]
Important Dates
- Registration / form submission period: As per latest JKBOSE notification. [web:2]
- Tentative exam schedule: October–November 2025 (Summer Zone) and March–April 2026 (Winter Zone). [web:2]
